Dissecting Designs.

Urban Spaces, installing your loft.

October 8, 2006

Urban Spaces.

 urban_spaces.gif

Located in the heart of loft friendly Clerkenwell, urban spaces is anything but your typical estate agency. Living local, our team of professional sales and lettings negotiators have come from a variety of fields of study such as architecture, design and law and now choose to market the properties and lifestyles they lead.

Maintaining our integrity and principals of architecture, urban spaces continue to remain faithful to the concept of loft living. To this we stand strong… if your space is not right for u.s. – we won’t market it.

Recognised as the specialist in the field of lofts and live/work space, we ask you to compare a two bedroom, 750 sq. ft. apartment to an open loft style space, also 750 sq. ft. What will sell for more? That depends on a lot of things you say – maybe the two bedroom flat, maybe the loft space? What we do know is that the loft buyer is not just looking for the property located within the trendiest postcode at the time; they’re after the unique space in the converted building, warehouse or school. It’s a specialist field that’s product led.

Defamer, Gossip from LA.

October 8, 2006

Defamer.

naamloos3.gif

LA is the world’s cultural capital.
This is the gossip rag it deserves.

In so far as a city ever needed a gossip rag, Los Angeles is crying out for a Defamer. For a city that’s in many ways the cultural capital of the world, it’s woefully under-gossiped. Sure, the celebrity weeklies give the latest tittle-tattle on the reality TV romance of the week. But the real stars of Hollywood are the producers, the agents, the PR flacks, the studio execs, and the screenwriters. They’re usually behind the scenes. No longer—since May 2004, there’s Defamer, putting them front and center.

UnBeige is about design. The blog is owned and operated by mediabistro.com.

The Editors:

By day, Steve Delahoyde works at the ad agency/design firm, Coudal Partners, where, like everyone else there, he’s sort of a jack-of-all-trades. Primarily, he’s the one that handles the writing for the firm, as well as the production work, from TV spots to Internet foolery. Steve entered the business by making far too many silly short films along with his cohort, Wakiza Gamez. Following that, largely by accident, he became a freelance editor, director and motion graphics designer. His production work has appeared everywhere from MTV to CBS to The National Lampoon Network, and his writing has popped up here and there, from Time Out to McSweeney’s.

Alissa Walker has written about either design or “Star Wars” for Wired, Dwell, Metropolis, ReadyMade, Design Observer, the Los Angeles Times, HOW, Dynamic Graphics and STEP Inside Design. She can be found on your iPod as a production assistant for the public radio show “DnA: Design and Architecture,” and, this fall, on your TiVo as a design expert on the HGTV show “Small Space, Big Style.” Alissa lives and works in Hollywood, where she tends to a garden and an ever-growing Gelatobaby. She suffers minor to serious injuries every time she goes surfing.
